Bulgaria issued ban on sturgeon fishing

Bulgaria issued a ban on sturgeon fishing for Danube River and the Black Sea which came into force on 21.02.2011. The ban includes all fishing activities for sturgeons on Danube River and in Black Sea until the end of 2011. A second ban, specifically addressing sturgeon catch is under preparation to become effective in the period from 01.2012-12.2015 which is to be adopted by the end of March 2011.

As a result of the protection attempts in correspondence with the Danube sturgeon Action Plan an information campaign will be implemented in Bulgaria after the second fisheries ban has come into force.
