2017 is the year of the upcoming ISS8 (8th International Symposium on Sturgeons) to be held in Vienna.

This is the first time the ISS returns to Europe since 1997 (ISS3, Piacenza, Italy, 20 years ago).  We would like to encourage all of the members to make use of the opportunity to join in and participate in WSCS’s four-yearly event.  A lot has happened in Europe during the past 20 years in terms of sturgeon conservation. Do not miss the opportunity to learn about the progress made and the problems remaining.

The registration for participation has opened already on December 21st 2016. Updates appear on a regular basis. Keep yourself well informed on the wealth of activities planned.

Registration and payment can be carried out directly on the ISS8 website, and so can be the submissions of Abstract for posters and oral presentations.

Please be reminded that for the Abstract submission, you need to make reference to the registration number you will obtain when filling out the registration form. If you need the acceptance of the abstract, we will only be able to provide such acceptance letter after peer review by the programme committee. However, this should not take long. In any case, there is an option also to delay slightly the payment until the abstract has been accepted. You will receive an official confirmation.

Please keep in mind that in order to receive the benefit of the WSCS membership for registration, the 2017 membership dues have to be paid.  We can only grant the benefits to members in good standing. A copy of the bank slip or the PayPal transaction record has to be attached to the registration form as a pdf file.

Hoping to see many of you in Vienna in September for an inspiring meeting.
