A large Acipenser sturio (240 cm TL) caught in the Gironde estuary last Wednesday afternoon, probably one of the few survivors of cohorts 1988 or 1994 which were heavily exploited by poachers when they moved out of the estuary. The sturgeon returned to the water in great shape.
