On December 20, 2023 the first Student Presentation Day organized by the WSCS Student Subunit took place. Sixteen participants joined the online meeting, gaining valuable insights into sturgeon research and projects presented by students from Georgia, Italy and Austria. Additionally, James Crossman delivered an expert talk on his work with white sturgeons.
The general aim of the subunit is to provide a platform for students to share their knowledge and experiences, as well as to collaborate on sturgeon conservation projects around the world. The subunit will provide access to opportunities for internships abroad, and student members can apply for travel awards supporting trips to conferences, internships and stays abroad. Further student subunit activities are:
- – Assisting WSCS in organizing workshops/conferences (e.g. ISS10);
- – Establishing a series of online workshops, student talks and expert talks on different sturgeon’s research themes.
– Providing support to WSCS by contributing to their newsletter/website.
