Children set an example for the protection of sturgeon
In October (2023), a mural action took place on the New Danube in Vienna under the project management of the University of natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna as part of the efforts within the LIFE Boat 4 Sturgeon project. Collaborating with the mentoring organization younus, children participated in crafting a mural together with the artist RoxS. The objective of this action was to raise awareness regarding the precarious state of sturgeons.
The artist sprayed a large sturgeon on the wall and the children added smaller sturgeons. Additionally, the personal wishes of the children for the next 20 years were inscribed, symbolically aligning with the anticipation that within this timeframe, the first adult beluga sturgeons may once again migrate up in the Danube.
