First young of the year Russian sturgeon in the LDR in 18 years

In the picture one of the two Young of the Year Acipenser gueldenstaedtii / Russian sturgeon captured by Marian & Co. at the nursery and monitoring  site (Danube R Km 123).

It is the first YoY from natural recruitment in the Lower Danube River in 18 years, and a sign that the ban of commercial fishing since 2006, and the supportive stocking of the river, are giving results.
