The European Union granted the LIFE Boat 4 Sturgeons project. Running from 2022 to 2030 with a budget of aprox. 12. Mio €, ten partners from 7 countries along the Danube will work together to stabilize populations of four Danube sturgeon species. The project includes the creation of two living genebanks with broodstock in Austria and Hungary, genetic mating schemes, releases of juveniles of all four species and a standardized monitoring scheme, accompanied by extensive dissemination actions.
