As part of the project “Supporting Conservation Actions to Implement the Pan-European Action Plan for Sturgeons”, funded through a call for tender (ENV/2022/OP/0019), a group of European experts led by WWF Europedeveloped the following guidelines, recently adopted by the Bern Convention:
- Assessment of the habitat of sturgeons
- Sturgeon population monitoring
- Ex situ conservation measures for sturgeons
The Standing Committee of the Bern Convention recommended their application to all member states, with the aim of supporting the implementation of the Pan-European Action Plan for the Conservation of Sturgeons(https://rm.coe.int/pan-european-action-plan-for-sturgeons/16808e84f3) and promoting all activities related to their conservation.
